Lynda Carter
Carter was born in Phoenix, Arizona, the daughter of Juanita (nee Cordova) and Colby Carter.Her father is of English and Scots-Irish origin, and her mother was born in Mexico she is of Mexican, Spanish, and French descent. She has one brothernamed Vincent and a sister, Pamela. Carter was just 5 years old when she made her television debut on Lew Kings Talent Show. During high school, Carter played in a group called Just Us. The group played marimba and a conga drum. They also performed on an acoustic and a stand up bass, which was played by a different member of the group. At age 15 Lynda began to sing in the local pizza joint in order to earn extra cash. 8 years later, at 16, Lynda was a member of two of her cousins to form another bandcalled The Relatives. Gary Burghoff, actor, was the drummer for the band. The band first performed in Las Vegas at the Sahara Hotel & Casino Lounge. Carter was 21 years old when she entered the kitchen. After being voted "Most talented", she dropped out to pursue a career in the field of music. In 1970, Carter auditioned and then performed on the road together with The Garfin Gathering and bandleader Howard (Speedy) Garfin. Their first show together was at Holiday Inn Chinatown, a San Francisco hotel that had no sidewalk access. Hotel staff and hotel guests had their cars parked in the underground parking garage , meaning that they performed for them. The Garfin Gathering toured the Nevada "Silver Circuit", playing shows in numerous casinos in the state's lounges, which were situated between Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Reno, and Las Vegas. Carter left the Garfin Gathering to pursue acting in 1972 and returned to Arizona.
